No Sweater For Me

Rarely do I see a knitted sweater and think “Gosh, I really want that.” Shawls and socks are my weaknesses. But when I saw the Greek Steps sweater in Twist Collective I said, “Gosh I really want that.”

It has been well documented that the first thing to catch our attention is the color of the piece. The design is the second thing we take in. The colors of the sweater were what stopped my screen flicking. Harmonious and soothing to look at I loved them instantly. Then I looked at the design and loved the details. My size was listed. But I wasn’t familiar with the yarn and yarn is always an issue for me. I have no yarn stores where I live so I can’t check out a yarn in person. I do my selection by research on the internet, cross my fingers and hope that what I think I am buying matches what arrives. While this alone would be enough to cool my infatuation with the sweater it was really Yarn Rascal who put an end to my sweater dream.

Yarn Rascal is just not capable of staying away from any hand knitted item or yarn. He cannot ignore his genetic mission to destroy knitted objects. This weekend he gnawed away the end of a favorite shawl of mine. I was wearing it when he grabbed it off me and we began playing his favorite game “Catch Me If You Can”.
I realized then that any dream of making a sweater would remain just a dream. Yarn Rascal would chew the darn thing off me in a hot minute. I don’t understand what it is about him and yarn.
